Is Your Sunscreen Safe?

An investigation of nearly 1,000 brand-name sunscreen products finds that 4 out of 5 contain chemicals that may pose health hazards or don't adequately protect skin from the sun's damaging rays. Some of the worst offenders are leading brands like Coppertone, Banana Boat, and Neutrogena.

To search for your brand of sunscreen, and determine the level of hazard, click here. Simply choose the product name from the drop down menu and click GO.

The recommended brands from the study are listed here and include: Blue Lizard, California Baby, CVS, Kiss My Face, and Olay.

The Environmental Working Group study found that 85% of sunscreens tested don't offer enough protection from UV rays, are made with hazard ingredients, or haven't been tested for safety. To take action, tell the U.S. Food and Drug Administration how you feel by writing a letter at this link.

Protect yourself all-year round against the sun!
