Sushi Birthday Cake

Since it is someone's special birthday coming up...I've been researching different cakes on the Internet. Here's one that is a sushi cake, made of real Japanese sushi rice and layers of unagi (Japanese eel), egg, avocado, chicken, daikon and other ingredients. This Bunny blogger made one for her husband's birthday. She's also quite talented in making other yummy and healthy desserts!

Here's a close-up view of the different layers of the cake.

What do ya'll think? Yummy?? Or disgusting?

Would you eat it? I would think it would be very filling!

The idea is actually quite disgusting - an eel cake seems akin to (or worse than) Willy Wonka's soap-flavored chewing gum.

However, the key is to think of it as a very huge, tasty, delicious maki - then there's no problem at all.

A sushi cake could potentially be really good.

That particular one is a little gross if you think about the height of the cake in question. The ratio of rice:stuff is way to high just by looking at the picture. I think at most you could get away with a total of 3 layers of rice. This one in the picture has 4 or 5!

Considering the price of rice these days, it'd be a good way to cut down on the cost of making the cake too!
