Shecky's Girls Night Out in NYC

I went to the Shecky's Girls Night Out on June 17th at 82 Mercer NYC. This is probably my third or fourth time attending this event, and I was disappointed during the last event in December. Probably because most of the vendors were selling ho-hum products. However, last week's event was quite a surprise and made me wish that I purchased a real ticket in order to get the goody bag! (Instead, I attended the event as a guest of a press so I only received a free admission ticket, sans goody bag).

This year, there was a variety of different vendors and sponsors for the event ranging from Veet, Maybelline, Febreze, and Lean Cuisinehttp://www.leancuisine.com/Index/Index.aspx. The majority of the vendors were jewelry sellers/designers and the trend appears to be big chunky jewelry pieces. Rings were a stand-out item and it seemed as if if the designers decided that the larger the ring, the better! All the colors were vibrant and sparkly. Here is a picture of a seller with rings that caught my attention. The second picture are accompany earrings with the rings.

The most surprising sponsor of the Shecky's event for me is Lean Cuisine. They offered coupons and samples of their new product, Garlic Chicken Pasta in steamable pouches. Since I was hungry (it was close to dinner time), I was more than happy to sample their food. Maybe it was the hunger, but the garlic chicken was extremely tasty! I would definitely purchase their products the next time we shop at Target or Walgreens. The product will be sold at other national stores in the future.

Stay tuned for my next post on another review of my favorite jewelry designer - Sara G. Strauss. One of my all-time favorite earrings were made by her and of course, I had to see her again to purchase another pair of earrings. And yes, I found another cute whimsical pair of earrings! Yea!! In the meantime, I encourage you to follow her on facebook to hear about her adventures of preparing for the Emmy's!

Bag Borrow or Steal

Inspired by the Sex and the City movie starring Sarah Jessica Parker, I thought I would do some research on the fabulous bags that Carrie's assistant Louise (played wonderfully by Jennifer Hudson) raved about! And how is it possible that a fashionista such as Carrie was not aware of 'rented' handbags? (By the way, how much money did Louis Vitton pay for product placement?!).

So the concept is simple - you can rent authentic handbags, jewelry and sunglasses for a week, a month or even longer! There are different price levels depending on the designer label and size of the bag (For example, a Coach bag can start out at $15 a week and a Vintage bag from $150 a week). Why pay full price when you can rent it for a fraction of the price?!! Plus you get to try out different styles without commiting to any item.

The website (http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/) assures that all products are 100% authentic. Members can enjoy a discount on the borrowing rates and priority access to new arrivals.

Membership Costs:
* 1 Month for $9.95
* 3 Months for $19.95
* 1 Year for $59.95

Of course there are purchasing options for any of the designer items. Some designer names include: Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vitton, Prada, Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Coach ....the list goes on.

What do you think? A smart way to become stylish and fashionable?

I Heart Tiffany's

www.tiffanys.com

We went to Tiffany's last weekend, and it's not something we do casually every weekend. It's not like "oh, let's go shopping.....hmmm, how about Tiffany's?" =) However we were looking to get a nice gift for Mother's Day and I would not have minded if we picked up something for myself! I checked out several options on the website beforehand and fell immediately in love with two options.

The first is this Open Heart lariat by Elsa Peretti with a cultured freshwater pearl in sterling silver on a 19" adjustable chain. I loved the whimsical dangle of the pearl as it hangs from the silver heart. I can easily change the length of the necklace by adjusting the position of the silver heart. The necklace is even nicer in person than on the website. Absolutely adorable!

The second option, which is more appropriate for a Mother's Day gift, is called the Heart Cap pendant. It is perfectly elegant but casual enough for everyday wear. The single pearl is attached to the necklace with 4 hearts, which gives it the name. There is also a matching pair of earrings but they were sold out at the store. This particular style of necklace was very popular. In fact, when we were just deciding on the necklaces, two couples next to us wanted to see the Heart Cap pendant! Luckily our salesperson was very patient with us (well, considering we told her that we were going to buy *two* necklaces) and let us take our time modeling the necklaces before making our purchase.
